A FB Q&A May Change Your Life

Q. Margo E.- Hello hiker fam! I have a different kind of question for y’all. After my 2019 Appalachian Trail (AT) thru-hike, I returned to my full-time job. That was a mistake. I work in an everyday staid business, and it’s now really weighing on my spirit. I need more. Do any of you AT hikers have a tip on jobs suitable for old hiker trash - who now knows she can do anything? Thanks (paraphrased)

A. Nick A. Synko - Having completed the AT, you now know you can do the extreme. GREAT! Now find a career path that challenges you to go all-in, exhausts you, allows you to hike your own hike, leads you to want more, again and again, necessitates traveling light, and is completed with friends who "travel the same journey" with you each day. To do so, go to your brain's right side - and make a written note of all that surfaces. Brainstorm without editing, explore before you evaluate, and believe that what at first seems improbable is possible with time and like-minded achieving friends. And AVOID BALANCE. No great change ever came about by balance. Find Flow (see that book by author Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi). He defines a state of mind where time does not exist as you work; you will find peace there. Lastly, avoid advice from friends who have sold out to the system - they will not understand. Take a first step Margo and then keep moving, rising early each day. You will climb your mountain in the end.
